Monique & Jim’s Wedding

Me Ra Koh Photography went to LA in early September for a speaking engagement, and then we did a photo shoot in Santa Monica the next day, and flew home that same night driving north to Bellingham for a very special wedding.

I know I feel this way after every wedding, but I love Monique and Jim’s Slideshow from their wedding! I think I’ve watched it 10 times in the last hour and even cried. :) Monique is a friend of mine from the triathlon group in Tacoma, WA. She is actually our amazing coach, and she is beautiful in countless ways. Jim is her groom, and the way he adored her throughout their wedding was amazing. Simply put, I love the way Jim loves Monique. Below are some favorite shots, but you’ve got to see the slideshow! (make sure your volume is on for the music too! :) And if you’re having trouble seeing the slideshow, click here for a free update of Flash.)

Her elegant dress.

Jim makes Monique laugh non-stop and what more could you ask for in marriage? :)

A moment so tender, I felt invasive shooting it. But I’m so glad we caught it.

I love this shot that Brian caught. The angle and lines add so much to the creativity.

An old barn near the ceremony site was the perfect background. :)

Dad, Monique and mom during the ceremony.

Thirty minutes before the ceremony it was pouring down rain. It was looking like the outdoor wedding wouldn’t happen, but the sun broke through at the last minute. The sky was so moody throughout the ceremony. It almost felt fickle in how often it changed. Brian and I had a blast shooting the clouds rolling in, the sun breaking through, the darkness coming back. It gives me the chills just remembering it.

And the children were gorgeous!

Congrats you two! Brian and I are so happy for you both! Thank you for giving us the honor of shooting your wedding day!

What Me Ra Sees

One of the best parts of being a photographer is capturing moments and details that others may not see. Every bride and every child we shoot is so beautiful! But sometimes I wonder if our clients believe that they are as beautiful as they really are. It’s such a honor to be able to capture their beauty in images so they can see that they are not just beautiful but stunning.

At a recent wedding, Brian caught a few shots of me shooting. I thought it’d be fun for you to see what I was shooting, in particular, what was catching my eye in that moment. Hope you enjoy!

Here’s what I saw…Monique has this incredible blonde streak that runs through her dark hair. Her eye lashes are long and thick, and the shade of her lipstick was the perfect pink. Not to mention how cool her jewlery was!

Number Two :)

Here’s what I saw…moss on a barn is the perfect background for a bride in white! And with her groom to be making her laugh, how could I not shoot away. She was perfect! Good job Jim! She is beautiful when she laughs!

Number Three. Last one. Kids are the best!

Here’s what I saw…Often their parents and grandparents want them to look at the camera and smile, but my favorite shots are when they are just “being”, often no smile, but you can tell their thinking–and that “thinking look” is timeless.

I’ll try to put up some “What Brian Sees” this week too! His eye never ceases to amaze me!
