I’m a Cowgirl, and I’m not Taking No for an Answer!
Guess what Gigi Ma (great grandma) bought for Pascaline this weekend?
Yep, a holster and gun. And someone is taking it very seriously!
I have to share this series with you! It just kills me! Pascaline tells people she’s going to be a cowgirl-photographer. She’s not messing around!
She totally wasn’t posing, just playing out her cowgirl-photographer character while I was exercising on the deck. So when she wasn’t looking I grabbed the camera and my 70-200 zoom and shot away. It’s the whole “Refuse to Say Cheese” capturing the many sides of her.
Then Blaze made us both laugh!
“I’m Spiderman-Cowboy!”
And this is one of my favorites, love the whole cat element. Prince Philip is always the designated horsey. 
The wind started to pick up and blew her hat off. And you won’t believe this next shot. Pascaline is too much. Brian said her life is like one long photo shoot.

Okay friends, here’s the recipe on all these shots!!
Aperture: 3.5 (I wanted it lower to get some nice blur in the background. But since she was moving so much I didn’t go as low as 2.0 so she’d stay sharp and in focus.)
Shutter Speed: 1/160th of a second
ISO: 100 (my favorite ISO setting b/c the lower you go the more color saturation you have)
Lense: Canon L 70-200 mm
Try it out!! We almost didn’t go outside b/c the weather has been getting colder and raining, but I’m so glad we did. Who says you need sunshine every time?!

i have to start by telling you how helpful your blog has been for me- i love that you share tips and setting that you find work awesome together! i do however have a question. im just starting my photography career and would like your advise on setting prices for myself. It seems like such a hard task because on one hand i would like to just get experience as possible (without people taking advantage) and on the other hand- money is very helpful. Where is the balance? And how do i know what im worth?

OH I love Pioneer Woman I’ve been following her blog for quite a while now. If you haven’t read the “black heels & tractor wheels series” you should it’s amazing.
Guess having to wait almost a year just made Pascaline more excited. She is really a natural, gun and holster and her pink hat did really make her a special “Cow Girl”. Blaze is something eles again. Love Gigi Ma

If you need to build your portfolio, I would start out charging a couple close friends your costs involved. When you have 3-4 different families to build a beginning portfolio, I’d raise your price out of costs. I started charging $85 an as my confidence grew I went up. Brian laughed at me through the first year b/c I raised my price five or six times when I realized how much work goes into a portrait shoot AFTER you’re done shooting. If you know you’re worth more, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Chances are you’re not giving yourself enough credit for how great you really are.
And most of all, take a deep breath. Let the learning curve be an adventure and not something that makes you feel as if you have to have it all right “right now”.

I’ve just stumbled upon your blog, though I’ve known about you’re work from the past while doing wedding photographer research last year. These photos(along with all your others) are amazing! I love the shot of Pascaline letting her hair blow in the wind, that really captures the moment, the day, the feeling. Absolutly adore it.
